The Old Rectory is a Victorian Gothic Revival styled property built in 1876. It was originally the home of Narcissus Batt, a nephew of the founder of the Belfast Banking Company. The property has four double bedrooms (each with en suite and two with sea views) plus two additional smaller bedrooms, one single another with two bunk beds. There is a large Dining Room, Drawing Room and smaller study plus kitchen dining room and downstairs WC. Each bedroom has a WHB (wash hand basin). There is also a separate former Coach House with three double bedrooms (one double bed and two rooms with two single beds each) and a downstairs family bathroom only, each bedroom has a WHB. The Rectory is situated on higher ground overlooking the beach with sweeping views across Lough Swilly. The property was renovated around 30 years ago and whilst en suite bathroom facilities are not modern, they are fully functional. Three have a shower and one with bath. Facilities include: WIFI, TV in Study with satellite connection and Apple TV (additional smaller TV in Drawing Room with Satellite connection), DVD player, Land-line telephone, oil fired central heating, open fireplaces (wood or coal in Drawing Room, Dining Room and Study), gardener/grounds maintenance. There is a 2 person sea kayak and 2 small sailing dinghys at The Rectory for guest use. Cleaning person can be arranged in advance. The village of Rathmullan is on the shores of Lough Swilly which is a sea lough and open to the Atlantic. The village has a delightful 4-Star country house hotel (Rathmullan House) serving excellent cuisine in its main restaurant and home-made artisan pizzas downstairs in the Cellar Bar (the hotel is a 5 minute walk through woods from the Rectory and was incidentally also built by the Batt family who built the Rectory). The village also has several pubs all serving excellent Guinness and two cafes (one vegetarian which is open summer months only). Deep sea fishing charter boats are available to hire in the village, as well as Stand-up Paddle Board rental in the harbour. 9 hole Otway Golf Course is 4 miles away and Portsalon Golf Course (18 holes) is 9 miles along a coastal cliff drive. Main airports are City of Derry Airport (1 hour) and Belfast International Airport (2 hours).
